Canada, New Zealand and the Philippines extended their winning streaks at the 13th annual World Hip Hop Dance Championship sponsored by Paul Mitchell and organized by Hip Hop International. Despite the world problems dominating the news, a record 48 nations came together in the spirit of competition and camaraderie. They battled it out during a full week of elimination rounds narrowing the field to eight nations competing in the Finals in front of a packed Orleans Arena on August 10.
Finalists competed in Crew Divisions for 5 to 8 dancers and the MegaCrew Division. In the Junior Division Fresh 2.0 of Canada took the Gold, Tao of Japan captured the Silver and Bubble Gum of New Zealand won the Bronze. In the Varsity Division JB Star of Japan took the Gold, Duchess of New Zealand the Silver and Sol-T-Shine of Japan the Bronze. In the Adults Division Brotherhood of Canada captured the Gold, Z-Boys of Australia the Silver and 2013 World Champions the Rockwell Family added a Bronze Medal to their collection. In MegaCrews the A-Team of the Philippines dominated followed by ID CO of New Zealand with the Silver and Flyographers Dance Team of Russia with the Bronze.
